College of Southern Idaho

s was
a special day for the college. Dr. Robert Ballard, the man who discovered the sunken Titanic in 1985, was going
to talk to the audience here and even answer a few questions. As this was live, from on board a ship in the
Atlantic Ocean over the Titanic, he could only speak with us for a few minutes. I went down to the college just
to see this live event for myself, but ended up standing in front of a crowd of people answering Titanic questions
with two other Titanic buffs.
This was the day I met Carl Ireton. Carl is an avid history buff on the ships of the Titanic era. He came dressed to the event in an authentic looking White Star Line officer uniform-very impressive!
I was happy to meet someone who had the same interest as I had. I've invited him to come to several of my Titanic presentations dressed as 2nd officer Charles Lightoller, and give a short talk on the ship. People really seem to enjoy his presence and he's very friendly and likes to talk with people about the Titanic.
He lives in southern Idaho with his wife Audrey.
